Stepping Out With Wylla Stout - Little Kitty in Yuba City Part One

Last week, we loaded up the Subaru and took Wylla on her biggest adventure yet - we went to California!   It was a 12 hour drive to our destination, and she did remarkably well.  She got a little squirmy at the end, but we were even squirmier at that point. Even with many breaks for stretching legs and snacking, 12 hours is a long way to go in one day for felines and humans too.

We met up with Craig's parents and spent a few days at his Grandmother's home.  She passed away this summer, and the family is in the process of sorting through her things, and deciding what to do with the house, which was built by her husband.

The house is a long, California ranch-style with lots of rooms. Wylla explored every square inch of it,  finding cobwebs in the corners, and smelling every smell.  There were boxes to examine, and lots of groovy furniture to climb on and under.   You could tell she felt very at ease in Grandma Sally's home, and seemed to really enjoy her time there.  I wish Sally could have met her.  Sally was a lover of all critters, and a great writer and storyteller.  I know she would have loved meeting Wylla and telling the tale of her visit.

  1. She's such a beauty. I'm sure Grandma Sally'd have loved to meet Wee Wylla!

  2. Does Charlene get jealous of Wylla's adventures? Or is she just glad that she doesn't have to travel? I hope she has a good time with her babysitter.

    1. Charlene adores her babysitter and doubt she is jealous of Wylla's adventures. I think she enjoys the quiet house.

  4. Wylla looks completely natural in that environment. She's a classic beauty. Also, the chair that she's sitting in looks similar to a chair my Granny had that now sits in my parent's living room.

    1. That kit-kat is gorgeous. Just gorgeous.

While we're at it on the furnishings, my mother-in-law has a floral needlepoint piece that looks rather like the artwork in pic #3.

  5. I think Wylla needs to have the green chair since Charlene has her red/pink one.

  8. Wylla's just so beautiful, but she also makes me laugh because she's so cute. I mean, the first and last pictures, and the one where she's on the sink -- I'm laughing and I'm not even sure why! I think it's because it's so amazing that any little one could be so cute. You are a button, dear Wylla.

  9. Oh I love Grandma houses & Grandma things. <3

Wylla fits right in with everything there. I think she wants the chair.
