The Soothing Sounds of Wylla Stout

While Wylla finishes up her breakfast, I usually sit down with my laptop and start checking emails and  begin working on the blogpost for the day.  Once she's done, she'll come running to find me, and she'll climb up on my shoulder or lap.  She's always chirpy and will tell me all about how delicious her breakfast was, she'll do a little post-meal bathing, then she'll just sit on top of me, warm her toes, and purr for awhile.

Her eyes will get all squinty, her purrs get deeper and robust, and sometimes she'll even fall asleep sitting upright.

I love her sweet morning meditation.

  1. She must have enjoyed her bonding time with you when she was younger and you had to hold her upright after she ate; I'm guessing that this is her version of that. Also, her purring is making me sleepy.

    1. So she doesn't have to hold her upright after a meal anymore? I didn't realize that!

    2. We do, just not all the time. Sometimes she's able to get it down just by eating vertically. Sometimes she needs our help afterwards.

  2. It makes me sleepy too! I've been known to doze off with cat and laptop on my lap.

    1. It's probably heaven for Wylla to have a warm lap and laptop to lay on! :)

  3. Soothing sweetness kittenfied. I've always wanted my bedside sound machine to include purring along with rain, ocean wave, cricket, and waterfall sounds for falling sleepy-bye. Sigh. >^..^<

  4. My cat used to purr loud and strong, but as he's gotten older (he's a robust 19), he doesn't purr anymore at all, even quietly. I miss that! I know they say that it doesn't mean a cat is happy, but I still always took it that way...

  5. Oh. My. Gosh. No wonder you fell in love with her. Just look at that sweet little face.

And what a great idea for the bedside sound machine!

  9. In the past I had found a file that's nothing but a cat purring.. Downloaded it and put it on a CD that's in my beside Bose. If you search on Yahoo or Google for "cat purring CD" you'll find a few hits. In the meantime, maybe Laurie can cut a CD of "Wylla's Greatest Hits". :)

  10. Oh my you should keep that so anyone could easily access that sound, what an amazing relaxing purr. And you described it perfectly "robust" she does indeed have a strong motor on her.

  11. So cute! We are kitty sitting our daughters two cats while she is out of the country. Her baby has that same routine with me. While I'm fixing my hair and putting makeup on, she jumps on the back of my chair until she crawls over my shoulder to take a nap in my arms while purring
loudly. She has slowed my routine down but is so darn sweet I can't help but cuddle her :)

  17. I guess I'm the only one who can't hear it. Darn! I tried both headphones and speakers. Maybe my computer's fans are just too loud, but usually my headphones can pick up even very small sounds. She is certainly darling!

  20. I will book mark this on YouTube, as I know purrs are healing. Without a cat in my life at the moment, it is excellent to have audio files available. Thanks to you, Laurie, and the fine Ms. Wylla for sharing this with us.
