Stepping Out With Wylla Stout: Picking Pumpkins at Picha Farms

After one very wet week, we were blessed with a warm and sunny Friday afternoon, so we headed out to Picha Farms with Wylla to pick out some pumpkins.

Wylla is usually game to go anywhere, but her favorite destinations are outdoors - this outing was especially fun for her.  She enjoyed climbing on the harvested pumpkins, walking between the cornstalks and rustling in the hay.

There were many varieties of and sizes of pumpkins and gourds to chose from.

These were our favorites - the "torties" of the pumpkin patch.

After much deliberation, we picked our pumpkins and headed home.  We placed our selections on the porch, invited Charlene to join us outside,  and the girls posed with the pumpkins.

  1. She's the cutest punkin in the patch. And she's definitely a "Fall". Miss Bean is looking lovely as always.

Ms Wylla is a born poser.. and so cute when she forgets to put her tongue back in. :)

  5. Too cute as usual! Next thing you know Libby's is gonna come a-knocking at your door! Both of you would make great spokeskitties for pumpkin in a can!

  6. These are such great photos! Wylla looks lovely next to all the pumpkins, and she poses so beautifully for you. I love the pic of her perched on top of the pumpkin with one paw on the stem. Adorable.

  9. Charlene knows her good sides for the camera! Love the Glamour shots. But Wylla's pink tongue hanging out is a riot! And we all know pumpkin is good for kittens!

  10. Look at that slit of a pupil in the second picture! What a nice and sunny day for her! You know, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a Willia-kit ready for the car (or even keep it in the car) so it's easier to go out with her. I wonder her reaction when there's snow on the ground.

Nice pictures! She really had a fun time!

  12. All the pics are very dear - but the third one down looks a bit like Wee Wylla is wearing a pumpkin stem crown!

  13. What great photos! Charlene is as beautiful as ever, and Wylla is really learning to work the camera! She is a little supermodel in training...can the cover of Cat Fancy be far behind? :)

  16. Does Charlene have to stay home because she is uncomfortable with outings?

    1. Charlene doesn't like car rides, so I don't think an outing would be fun for her at all Also, she startles easy and I think she would be very nervous outside our home.

    2. I guess it just depends on the personality of the cat. And maybe on whether leash training starts quite young, as you did with Wylla.

  22. Awww, look at the l'il punkin. And big sis with the boops and with the regal and serene solo pics. Niiice.

  23. Wee Wylla on her NOT so wee Pumpkin is adorable! And her demonstrations of paw display technique is so sweet...Charlene looks quite impressed with her wee sis!

  24. I love how the pumpkins complement her orange patches. I bet this farm doesn't get many kitty visitors, let alone the famous Wee Wylla. I'd be tickled pink if I saw a kitten wandering the pumpkin patches in the northeast.

  25. O Miss Charlene, how beautiful you are!

  26. These are truly beautiful pictures! We are now convinced that we need to get a harness for our kitties. We have one that I think would love to go out and about.

  27. These two precious girls remind me of Toot & Puddle, best friends who live together and share adventures in Woodcock Pocket.

Toot occasionally gets the urge to travel, while Puddle prefers to stay home. So when Toot goes out and about, he sends Puddle postcards, which Puddle reads in the cosy comfort of home.

This works beautifully for Toot & Puddle, and I think it does for Wylla and Charlene, too.

  28. I haven't found a single picture of Wylla or Charlene that I don't think they're gorgeous, but the profile pic, with the grass and pumpkins blurred behind her is stunning.

  29. Just when I think that Wylla can't get any cuter, you go and put her in a pumpkin patch! Can hardly stand it! I'm sure Bean enjoyed checking out all of the pumpkin scent on her young charge.
