Monkey Business

Imagine being home, sick in bed, your roommate is a toddler chimpanzee, and she's doing backflips on the bed.

That's what life is like for Wylla Stout.

Nothing's really changed in recent days regarding Wylla's health, so I don't have anything to report.   I know many of you have asked questions in the comment section, on FB, and in emails about how she's doing.  I wish I had time to answer these questions individually, but theres a LOT of them, so it's difficult to respond to each.

My plan is to post any updates just here on the blog.   If I don't post anything about her current state, it just means that nothing has changed, and there's really nothing to report.

Thanks for being so concerned and caring so much about our girl (and her sister, the monkey).

xoxo

  2. Hey, Laurie, can you take a sky-level view photo of your box labyrinth? It'd be fun to see how you put that together ...

  3. That picture is amazingly descriptive of the situation. For wylla, I hope she feels better soon, but no news is good news.

  8. May they both be healthy and do lots of back flips. It's no fun being sick.

Love the box (and the "Does this pen work?" mark on the front).

  9. This photo is absolutely hilarious. Audrey is about ten seconds of monkey business away from getting a floofy-paw'd bonk on her noggin.

  10. Definitely looks like Audrey put her crazy pants on this morning! Great shot. Hope Wylla is back to toddler chimp status very soon so Audrey has someone to play with! Poor baby.

  11. Loving your description of Audrey - howled with laughter! I do hope Wylla feels better soon - viruses can take a lot of a baby like her. Here's hoping rice, chicken and pumpkin help her along, well that and tons of love from Craig & Laurie...

  13. Aw, poor Wylla! I had pretty much pictured exactly this situation. How annoying the well are when you are ill. Audrey definitley looks like she caught the Cray here-here's hoping Wylla recovers and gets her kitten crazies on soon too. Sending virtual hugs to Wylla (and Audrey, if you can catch her-crazy monkey!)

  14. Here's something uplifting for those of you worried about Wylla -

I visited a sick kitten very much like Wylla at the San Francisco SPCA hospital where I volunteer. She had a really bad case of diarrhea and some sniffles - I didn't think she would be there when I came back the following week. She was severely underweight and when I visited her, all she could do was huddle in my hands (she fit in my cupped hands like no kitten should) and purr. Much to my relief she was there the next week too, feeling a little better but still in quarantine. I didn't see her again for a few weeks due to my own busy life but around Valentine's Day, there was a big adoptathon that I helped with at the Adoption Center. I was shocked and elated to see this same little kitten bouncing around in a kitty condo, ready to be taken home and loved in her forever home! She was such a fighter just as I know little Wylla is (obviously she has to be with a crazy sis like Audrey!)

All kittens are different and some don't make it, like little Filbert. But a lot of times the kittens can be really sick but don't have a lot of other complications so they get well with time, love and support! So try not to worry too much - Laurie will let us know if things change and we can all celebrate her adoption later. Cheers!

  16. Wylla looks a lot better than she did in my imagination so very happy to see her putting up with Audrey. Lots of positive thoughts going out to all of you

  17. Feel better soon, lovely little Wylla! At least she looks like she might be feeling a bit better. And I love, love, love the crazy look on Audrey's face! Too cute!

  18. Poor Wylla! I laughed at your description of Audrey, who looks totally possessed by the kitten crazies in the photo. Is there a way to close off the crate from the box maze and give Wylla a break from Miss Crazy Pants for a time?

  19. Poor dear Wylla. Her look says it all. As does Audrey's haha

  20. My sis used to torment me when I was on the mend! Audrey does look possessed! Aaaaah!!! Sending prayers & healing thoughts to Wylla - she needs to get better so they can both meet the Bean!

  21. Prayers and purrs for Wylla that she gets better real soon so she can play with Audrey and run off some of that crazy energy!! These two girls are the sweetest babies I've seen in a long time....

  22. Poor little Wylla - I suspected she wasn't any better when I noticed the post before this about the Big Kitten Box House only had (cute) pictures of Audrey. Hope Wylla gets better soon and feels well enough to pounce all over her sister!

  23. That is the perfect caption to that photo. She looks so "over it." Haha.

  24. Here's hoping for a swift recovery for Wylla and that Audrey wears herself out soon and lets everyone get some sleep. I love Audrey's crazy eyes in that photo. I just want to pick her up and cuddle the daylights out of her. And I just want to stroke poor Wylla's forehead and assure her that it will get better soon.

  28. Wylla has the best care possible and a good incentive to get better (putting the smackdown on her sister). I have complete confidence you will do the right thing for her. As much as we all would like for Bean to make a visit, we definitely don't want her getting sick. Take don't forget to take care of yourselves too!

  29. Thank you for taking such good care of Wylla! I'm sure she'll be feeling much better and acting almost as crazy as her sister soon enough :3
