Aloyisius, You're Delicious
I assigned the surname "Petrie" to our beautiful bunch, and Mari was the chosen one who got to select the first name for this tabby fellow.
From Mari:
The beautiful tabby boy's name is an easy one for me: Aloysius Rosebud (are you horrified yet?)
Aloysius is a family name and when you said he's sweet and roly-poly AND outgoing that was an obvious choice--well, maybe except for the sweet part.
Pronouncing that is much easier than it looks: Al-uh-WISH-us (you can call him Al). And Rosebud for two reasons--he looks like a girl (not a sled) and is a reference to the old Dick VanDyke show. Ritchie's middle name was Rosebud: from wikipedia: Richard "Ritchie" Rosebud Petrie, Rob's and Laura's son. (His middle name is an acronym for "Robert Oscar Sam Edward Benjamin Ulysses David," all members of Rob's and Laura's families.)
I bet you wished you'd pulled another name out of the naming pool!
Nope Mari, I'm glad I picked your name! I LOVE your choice. It's perfect for our pretty little boy.
Aloysius Rosebud Petrie, how do you do?

You can call him Wishus for short. Sweet little face.
ReplyDeleteBest. Name. Ever. Nice work, Mari.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, belly speckles. Extra delicious, Aloyisius!
ReplyDeleteIt is a PERFECT name! And I almost fell off my chair when I saw the brown and spots on his belly! I think I might faint from the cute overload... :-)
ReplyDeleteWith the sweetest little nose ever, this is a perfect name for this wonderful boy. Mari, that is a great pick. And I do remember the episode on Dick Van Dyke when they explained to Ritchie why his middle name was Rosebud. Oh, for the days when TV was so much better!!
ReplyDeletei love the name it really fits his handsome face!!
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so gushingly cute. You don't mail kittens, right?
ReplyDeleteHe is by far the prettiest kitten I have ever seen!!! I love the name.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love the name. I want to fly across the country and take this boy home! Laurie, you better watch! I think they're going to be pounding down your door to get to this sweet boy. (SWOON!)
ReplyDeleteHe is so stunning!
ReplyDeleteAmazing name choice Mari. Well done!
I want him. :)
ReplyDeleteI _love_ the name, Mari! Perfect!!
How do you do? Better if me tummy got rubbed...Greetings Aloysuis! On this National Tell A Bad Joke Day
ReplyDeleteJust based upon Aloysius' expression of horror in the last photo, I'm thinking Laurie told the little guy his name. I wonder if he thinks it is just a bad joke?
DeleteAloysius Rosebud is a kitty supermodel. He might be the most gorgeous boy kitty in history. Look at him pose for the camera.
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely in love with his belly spots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful name for this pretty pretty kitty! I'll call him Al, but only if you call me Betty (sorry - had to, it bein National Bad Joke Day and all!).
ReplyDeleteLove it! And now I have the song running through my head which is pleasant.
DeleteHehe...yeah, I was shocked no one has said it yet.
DeleteHey, no one got mine either. Either that or everyone ignored it because it was lame (this is a distinct possibility).
DeleteI'm a bit ashamed to admit I don't get yours... There goes my bad-joke-street-cred!
DeleteDish was a take on the last name, as in Petrie/petri dish.
DeleteAhahaha! Amazing! I hang my head in shame for not gettin it. But truly, well played.
DeleteOh no Mari, that look is when Laurie told him how to SPELL Aloysius...
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Dick Van Dyke Show reference, such a great show! And I think I even remember the Rosebud episode. Great name all around!
ReplyDeleteAre we sure he's a he? He looks sort of like a tortie and white cat with three colors--black, orange and white. So doesn't that mean he's probably a she?
ReplyDeleteOthers on here are much better name-choosers than I would ever be - I'd just want to call him Mr. Floofypants!
ReplyDeleteHis name is delightfully offbeat, and I love the Dick Van Dyke Show reference. Well done, Mari!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect name! Reading how it can be shortened to "Al" made me laugh; it's just so fitting. Sweet little man...
ReplyDeleteThat nose just begs to be beeped (okay, they ALL beg to be beeped). :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely name for a lovely boy. Good job Mari!
ReplyDeleteThat kitten is ridiculous. I second the "Wishus" nickname.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful name...for a wonderful floofy boy!
ReplyDeleteIsn't there sort-of a French song about Aloyisius? :o)
ReplyDeleteAloyisius, gentile Aloyisius
Aloyisius, je te embraser
Je t'aime, little chicken!
He's so cute, I' suspicious
ReplyDeleteAloysius, Aloyisius
The name is so propitious
Aloysius, Aloysius
Other cats are envidious
Aloysius, Aloysius
For a home he is ambitious
Aloysius, Aloysius!
He is so Aloyisius!
ReplyDeleteOh my...he is one handsome little man!
ReplyDeleteHe is soooo fluffy! I want to hug him and cradle him in my arms and pet his paws and ear tufts forever!
ReplyDeleteStumbled across his picture on pinterest. Complete doppelganger for my kitty. Down to the white nose and streak between the eyes and even the little ginger "freckle" by the nose!
