Good One, Cherie!!!

Hey Laurie - I am going with my last name Batsel - I didn't give my Dad grandchildren, only furchildren, so at least with your blog there is tangible evidence of his last name carrying on - LOL.

  8. That's how they became the Batsel bunch.

  9. If you just switch two letters (and for the infinitive, add an n) you get the German translation for 'to craft' - 'basteln'. How appropriate for the girl who likes to nap on crepe paper!

  11. OMG how appropriate, they fly around like little bats, but they are really just cute little cats.....THE BATSEL'S!!!

  13. Thanks everyone - the emphasis is on the "Bat" portion and our origins can be traced to Austria/Germany. There are many talented crafters in my family alas, I can only craft a decent argument.

My father is quite thrilled to see the name go on in this manner - made for a wonderful early Christmas gift (hopefully he will still remember come the season and not bemoan the empty stocking).

I can't wait to see their first names.

  14. Let's hope they'll have lots of sparkle balls and wands to BAT at!

  15. Love it, Love it, Love it! And how appropriate since a couple of them seem quite good at "flying." What a gorgeous bunch of kitties - closely riveling the Dearborns, and that's sayin' somethin'!

  16. I love this name, too, and the thought behind it. I, too, never procreated (what a nerd), so am glad to have the Suprenant Sisters for perpetuity.

  17. Nanette Said....To Mr. Batsel(Sr.): "It's a...it's a...litter! Congratulations!

  18. I echo Anonymous' "It's a...it's a...litter!"

With my own touch....of course: Felinitations!

And - I am happy to be in love...again!

  19. Batsel is a perfect name for them for the reasons cited above ("batseln" means "to craft" and the little girl kitty clearly appreciates crafting given her choice of sleeping spots; plus, these kitties have a predisposition to "fly" like bats). I will also add two more reasons: 1. Three of the kittens have batman masks (or permutations thereof) and 2. well, hell, it just sounds cute -- "The Batsel kittens," "A basketful of Batsels," "The Batsel bunch," etc. etc.

  20. Cynthia, I actually thought *you* appropriated the litter's surname (for your blog identity) rather than vice-versa! LOL! After all, your name does mean "surprise" in French and what are kittens but a very very nice surprise?
