Five Little Dearborns All in a Row

DSC_0046

Some litters are harder to wrangle than others.  This little group is especially wiggly when it comes to group photos.

But finally! They gave me a family portrait.  Thank you, kittens.  It's nice to see you all side-by-side.

What a diverse little bunch they are.  There's truly something for everyone in this batch.

  1. This may be a stupid question, but how do they end up so different? Are cats able to have multiple fathers of the kittens?

  2. Yep. If mom got around a lot, it's possible that each kitten in the litter could have a different father.

  3. Mom's can be impregnated by more than one male cat, so you can end up with some wacky combos.

  4. Awww what a cute bunch!

Liz thats what the vet said about my Sooty - He was the only tux in a family of tabby and tabby and white like his brother Thomas who we also took home!

  5. I'm speechless. Could you have asked for a cuter group in time to kitten the phones? Is Pearla the tiniest? She looks so much like my Mishka it's making me soft in the brain again.

The fundraiser is probably my favorite time of the year on IBKC because that means you'll be posting so very often! And because it's so awesome to see people from all over the world contributing to a the cause! And because it gives me warm fuzzies to give to warm fuzzies!

I just gave a little today, because I want to participate in the matching challenges :) I can't give as much as I want (UM, the whole thing?), but I will give as much as I can!

  6. Liz - there is an excellent Discovery channel video online on feline pregnancies. I watched it about a year ago, hope it's still up on the web.

  8. They are just so cute (and so tiny!). I thought Pearla and Sheldon were my favorites, but Geraldine may be winning me over with that cute little head tilt.

  9. Little Geraldine and Miss Marla's chin spot are totally winning me over here! Yes, I obey you! I shall donate as soon as I get paid!

  10. i am in love with sheldon. darn you laurie! you and your cute kittens. ABSOLUTE TORTURE. yes, even with my beautiful shlomo and bilal around (who are GROWING UP TOO FAST) i am still being tortured.

btw. bilal is looking at this group and wants you to know that he was far cuter than they are at his age (yes, even sheldon) and he wants me to know that i need to stop looking at your site. i am not going to listen to him about not looking at your site.. i'm kind of a masochist when it comes to looking at cute kittens.

    :)

  11. Mama Dearborn must have been a very popular lady. I am so glad her litter was found and rescued to kitten nirvana!

I am glad there are so many kittens to meownser the phones for the Dog-a-thon. That way no one kitten will be overworked!

  16. Lovely! This picture seems somewhat oldtimey - black and white with a sepia tint, because of the Dearborns' coloring.
They are so adorable -- afraid I lost my heart to Geraldine the moment I saw her!

  17. Pearla's nose shines out! I am glad you didn't name her Rudolphia!

  18. I vote for Geraldine for "Most Likely To Never Catch a Mouse." I see a future for her on a big pillow in a sun spot somewhere! What a lovely portrait of everyone.
