A Frosty Christmas

Here's a little Mimsey and Nigel holiday update from mom. Photos, courtesy of my pa.

Thank you to everyone for all your good advice on handling two very active kittens at Christmas time. We decided, that for this year only, we would put the tree on the porch, where we could control the climbing into and under it. Actually, the only thing that was broken was an ornament that I dropped while decorating the tree!

Mimsey and Nigel have been pure enjoyment for us! They are constantly wrestling and chasing each other, and then they disappear and take a long nap.

Of course, Santa (as well as Mamma Laurie and Charlene) were very good to them. They have a basket-full of sparkling new toys that squeak and bounce. By far their favorite toy is a nice gift box that Laurie sent her dad, that he cut holes into the top and sides. What fun this is to hide from each other and us!

They are sleeping much later in the morning. We have been leaving the door to their room open, so we are not sure what they are doing at night, but they are quiet, and we usually find them either in their little beds or in ours.

You would be amazed at how much bigger they are getting! They are so sweet and such good company. Right now they are experiencing their first white Christmas. I'm not sure what they think when they look out the widow, except I know they love to watch the cardinals that come to our feeders. The closest to snow that they have come is what gets tracked in on our boots!

Thank you to everyone who were so supportive of our adoption. These little darlings have brought so much happiness to our lives! Merry Christmas everyone! Sharon

  10. I love the obvious joy in your Mom's emails, Laurie. The kittens are adorable, but then everyone knew that, and I love your Dad made them a toy out of the gift box.

  16. I've done the same thing with boxes for my 2 younger cats.. cutting doors, windows and secret flaps and it's been great fun watching them play in it. Now that they're bigger I need a bigger box.

These two have definitely hit the kitty jackpot when they got Laurie's parents for their furever parents!

  17. Wonderful pictures...it's great that your Dad thought to make the box into an activity centre, rather than recycle it straight away. Kittens are like children, the box is always more fun than the contents >^..^<

  23. Sharon, reading your updates is like getting a letter from my beloved aunties. They were newsy, informative, full of warmth and the kind of details that made me want to read and re-read them over and over.

The fact that these include pictures of your adorable kittens makes them indescribably delicious! Thank you!!
