  5. Alright - time travel special! This most excellent photo immediately transported me to winter.

As for Ms. Furman, the light on her chest looks like her pilot light shining from the inside out, which'll stand her in good stead in that Big World. You GO, girl.

  6. Beautiful photo, Laurie! Precious Miss Edith looks so tiny and delicate. But we don't have to miss her just yet, 'cause she and Roland are still there, right?

  7. She's not going alone out into that big world, is she? Will Brother Roland be with her at her forever home??? Please say yes...

Oh, oh, I know, waving hand wildly! Call on me! I found these on Laurie's craft blog last winter and made them (with deer, not birds) for decorations for my husband's deer themed birthday party. They are made from two sheets of waxed paper fused together with paper punches inside, then trimmed with decorative scissors. You can see Laurie's decorative banners here:

  9. Anon - nope, she won't be alone.

The garland was a DIY I wrote last winter for the Martha Stewart Weddings blog. Full instructions for the garland here:

It's super easy and you probably have all the materials you'll need in your home.

  12. Awww that photo looks like it would make the most perfect "missing you" greeting card.

  13. So poignant, the tiny Edith looking out onto the world which is so many times bigger than she is. I hope she's found just the right set of loving arms to hold her for a little while longer before she's big enough to take it all on.

  14. Beautiful picture! Agreed with Anon: this would be the perfect "missing you" card.
