Steppin' Out with The Bean

Yesterday afternoon, we finally got a break from a LONG stretch of dreary and wet weather, so we decided to take Butterbean out on the deck.

She had a great time checking out the birds in the holly tree and enjoyed smelling all the smells in the wind. Here are some highlights from our outing.

Of course when it was time to come inside, she got a little grumpy. She would of loved to stay out there a little longer.

Maybe we'll do it again today, Bean. The sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.

  2. I just love Ms. Bean's coloring. It reminds me of an ice cream sundae--little milk chocolate, some dark, whipped cream, and caramel...LOL She's just a beautiful girl! Is she a Momma's Girl or a Daddy's Girl?

  3. I love her. I just love her. I so wish I could run my hands through that gorgeous floof!

  4. It'd be fun to take the kittens outside..

    Or not. :)

Every once in a while I'll take my 3 out into the back yard, and then go crazy trying to herd cats. I usually get a green present on the carpet later, too.. ew.

  6. Do you ever worry about her falling off the deck? I know it sounds crazy, but I'm a little anxious about ever living in an apartment with a balcony for fear that my Toby will decide to investigate and jump off the balcony not realizing the height. I've started training him on a harness so that if I ever do have said balcony he can explore it on bungee leash and harness so the worst that can happen is a bungee cat (would never bungee him on purpose, just am a bit paranoid)

  7. Fresh Air Bean = FAB! Wonderful pics. I think I can see her nose and whiskers twitching, taking in all the interesting scents after the rain. Love her look in the last pic: "I'll go in, but not willingly. Harumph."

  8. My buddy Sarge acts the same way. He loves to go outside (and will slip out if you're not careful) just to roll around on the sidewalk an nibble on grass. He meows a lot because he's so happy. Then he has to go inside. I'm glad my other cats don't want to go out.

  10. J's Mommy - She goes both ways... She's mama's girl by day,, and dad's in the eve. When she's feeling lovey-dovey, she'll jump on one of our laps to give buddy bumps and purrs, then moves on to the other and does the same.

Bethany,, Our deck isn't that far off the ground, so I don't really worry. If she did fall, I really doubt she would be injured. If it were further off the ground, I might be a little more worried.

  11. It always amazes me how georgous Miss Bean is!
The natural light makes her eyes glow. My 2 Maine Coons have our enclosed porch to sniff and natter at the morning doves.

  12. Awwww...Charlene communes with nature! I can sense her enjoyment even from this distance.
And though she may have been grumpy going indoors, I bet her mood improved when she had the kittens swarm again!

  15. Bean looks fabulous. How do you get her to stay on the deck? Moo would wander off, so he is strictly an indoor cat.

  16. Be still my heart. Queen Bean's porch outing is absolutely wonderful. Of course, she's going to be on the farthest edge of the highest place!

    Oh, that Bean.

  19. Beanie! I can't blame you. The smell of the breeze is quite intoxicating outside. If only I could join you. *sigh*

  20. Dear Miss Bean- I think you are beautiful. I am a 6year old tuxedo boy. My momma says I am quite handsome, even though I am blind in my right eye. Would you consider being my girliefurrrend? I'm sure you have a lot of other suitors, but could you share a little space in your heart for me?

  21. Ms Butterbean, you are indeed a rockstar!! Maybe ask mom and dad to screen in the deck, and then you can bring your little minions out to observe:-)

Beautiful Bean! My tuxie took a leap of faith off of my balcony onto an overhang. He has done this twice at dusk so he is no longer allowed out by himself. My silver tabby did a tumble down the tree next to my balcony as she got overly excited about some birds in the tree. Thankfully neither were hurt as it wasn't very far down and both learned their lessons. Of course I watch them like a hawk now.

  25. Yay, Bean. I hope she's adjusting well to life without her big sister Drewey.

  26. O Squee! The bottom picture of the bean is so special! I want to stick my face in her floofiness.

  27. I just realized that I genuinely forgot that Miss Bean is not a prim and proper young Southern belle and is actually a cat. Oh dear. My floofy scamp of a girl gave me a condescending look.
