A Purrfect Place

I know many of you follow Sue's babies over at Pitter Pats of Baby Cats, but just in case you don't, I wanted to share a little story with you.

Sadly, one of Sue's foster kittens, precious Myron Huggins, tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia). Because of this, he couldn't get adopted out like all the other kitties do, to a traditional home.

We're very fortunate to have an amazing rescue, Purrfect Pals, located just north of us. They take in all sorts of special needs cats and kittens including those with FeLV, FIV, as well as seniors, barn cats, ferrel cats and just plain old healthy adoptable cats too. It's a special place run by some very compassionate folks.

When Sue first got Myron's news, she contacted Purrfect Pals and shortly thereafter, they found a place for him with one of their amazing foster families. The family sounds just awesome, and honestly, I can't imagine a more perfect place for this boy.

Rescues that take in cats and kittens with FeLV are few and far between. They're special places, and I just wanted to encourage you to support Purrfect Pals or a similar rescue in your area. There are so many ways to support. Financially, of course, but you can also donate supplies or your time.

If you have a second, please visit the Purrfect Pals site and check out the fine work they are doing. It's an amazing facility, and I'm so grateful they exist.

Pop over to Pitter Pats to read Myron's whole story.

  1. Laurie, thank you so much for sharing this story with us. I haven't visited Sue's blog much recently (I'm falling behind on a number of activities), and wasn't aware of Myron's condition or story. Huge blessings to the Purrfect Pals folks for their compassionate hearts and hard work. I"ll check to see if there's a similar organization in my area, and perhaps I can funnel something to Myron's benefactors, too.

  4. Myron is a sweet little boy kitty.
I was worried about him when I read the first part of his story, but much happier to read of his new residence.

Their site is lovingly written which is a hint of how much love for the kitties is there!

  5. hmm, can't seem to donate from Canada - their site insists on a State and area code :(

I've been following Myron's story, he's such a sweet little guy. I'm sorry he's sick, but so glad to hear that he's got a wonderful family taking care of him.

  6. I volunteer with Crash's Landing in Grand Rapids, MI, and we have a shelter just for cats with Feleuk and/or FIV. They are the sweetest, most loving cats ever.

  9. Maximus Spittimus requests that I advise you that both his Two Legs are in Great Britains Cats Protection and they also will take in FeLV and even FHIV cats and kitty's.

Of course, they have to remain seperate from healthy kitty's but they live full and healthy lives for as long as possible.

Well done to Purrfect Pals for giving all kitty's a chance of a great life!!

  10. Sue - Thank you for the link to Crash's. Feleuk kitties can live long and happy lives when in safe, loving homes, so Myron should do well. He got off to a great start with you, I can tell.

  11. I've heard of Purrfect Pals before--a woman I kind of know adopted three beautiful purebred cats from there, one of which is (I think) one of the top scoring show cats in the US. From what I understand, they are a great shelter, and I hope Myron does well there.

  13. I was sad to hear of Myron's condition - he looks very much like my babycat! - but all the stops have certainly been pulled out to see he gets a good life regardless.

I only wish every FeLV, FIV, etc. kitty got as much care and help sent their way.
