We all love the Finch boys. I'm sending them love and good thoughts, from my cats to yours :)
The waves of purrs are washing over the Finch brothers and their foster family.
Hello Laurie -I've been reading this blog for some time now, and recently adopted my cat, Byrd, from the Animal Humane Society in Minneapolis in November. I was really inspired by all you do for these little ones, and knew I needed to bring a little fuzzy to my home, too. He's a 9 mo., beautiful seal point boy who was very snuggly and calm. About 6 days after I adopted him, he began vomiting bile, becoming less interested in food, and sleeping so often. When I took him to the vet, his temp was high, his white blood cell count was very low, and they gave me a rough prognosis. Many fluids, force-feedings, sub-cutaneous and oral antibiotics, naps on my chest (so I could tell if he stopped breathing), calls to the vet, and prayers from friends and family members, and he slowly emerged from his mystery sickness. Now he gallops about the house with joy, pestering his roommate, Hugo (the resident tabby)and purring loudly whenever meeting a new human. I hope that with the love and care you provide your boys, as well as positive thoughts from others, the Finch brothers will emerge happy, healthy, and spunky - just like Mr. Byrd from Minneapolis. Best to you.-Andrea
We're not going anywhere... we appreciate that you're keeping us updated on what is happening. Purrs and love for Ira and Walter.
We are adding our healing purrs to the rest!
Poor babies! Hopefully they'll soon be back and gaining strength and weight as soon as possible! My Miss Flora has been indisposed the last week; in her case something possibly more serious. At 15, she's the light of my heart and I do worry a bit. But she sends purrs to add to those already sent.
As a fellow kitty foster mom, my heart really goes out to you. Having them gone and not knowing what's going on is really nerve wracking! Keeping your fuzzy ones in my prayers!
Thanks so much Laurie for all you do for those itty bitty ones and we humans who love and worry about them as well (astonishing to me that you find the time for those of us).
Oh so much sadness! And so much love and healing thoughts from us at the Museum. Get well little Finch boys! Purrs, kisses...
This is so sad and thank you so much for keeping us posted. I think sometimes it is easy to forget how much work it takes to keep the little ones happy and healthy. You do such good work and are really making a difference in these little guys' lives. They are lucky to have you in their corner. I just wish all cats had such good caretakers. Sending you my best thoughts and am going home to give my cat army a good scritch tonight.
Lots of love to you and those precious little guys. The good news is that once healing takes hold in kittens, it moves rapidly. Here's praying it takes hold.
Sending good thoughts your way. Cuddles to the little Finches!! You are an inspiration, Laurie.
you ARE in inspration! just look at all the little spin-off blogs out there. i'm so sad that these sweet little finches aren't feeling so well, but we all know what it's like in the real world. kitties get sick. but a lot of times, kitties pull through. so hang in there. you've got droves of us behind you to support you all the way.
It's amazing how I fall in love with your babies just through your words and pictures. I can't even imagine if I was really there. You are an angel here on earth for these innocent little babies and I know I speak for so many when I say how much I admire you.Patti
Dear Laurie -I am just catching up with the news. My thoughts and prayers are going to the Finch boys, that they get strong and get past this. They are in good hands, as they have been all along with you and your family.Thank you for creating such a loving community here at IBKC. We are all holding you and the kittens in our hearts.
We took in two kittens when they were only a week old, and had many late nights like you must be having, of syringe-feeding, and cleaning up after little ones. The vet said about 50% of stray kittens that young die before they reach 6 months old. Helo and Athena (our kitts)are 6 months old now and doing great! We are all thinking positive thoughts here in Michigan for your Finch bros.
Lot's o' prayers and purrs going out to Ira, Walter and their humans.
You are the best. Keep up the good work with the kitties.
you take such amazing care of these babies that I am confident they will be just fine. And your vet is wonderful, too, I remember how great your vet was through the whole Jerry Lee heartbreak. I am confident that they will be roly-poly again in NO TIME! at least I certainly hope so! they are adorable little boys.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. Sending many good thoughts towards Ira, Walter and their human friends ... I hope they get well soon.
As a long time reader, never poster, I just want to add that my prayers go out to these kitties, and my admiration to you!!!
