Saturday was the day. We said goodbye to all four drapers who left in two sets of two. Any guesses on who went with who? I'll get to that later, for now, I'll share with you Butterbean's last day with The Drapers. They had a great morning together. They wrestled a bit, licked condensation off the window, licked each other, looked out the window and watched rain fall, leaves fly, and a big orange tomcat cross the street. They got a nap or two in as well.
Here are a few pictures from their final escapades.
Thanks, Laurie, for sharing these intimate moments with us. Each IBK batch is precious but these four had that little extra something. They're perfect. Yay for their new families!
And YAYs for big kitties who also found their new forever homes this weekend, including sweet Francine, Bugsie, Martin, Mateo, Missy, Gus Gus, Anna & Spice! It was a wonderful weekend at the shelter.
I'm glad you spared us the ones with the teary Charleen pretending She has something in Her eye as Drapers carry thier little suitacases to their forever homes
No kitty is safe from a Bean headlock (LOL). I'll miss the Drapers, but I know they're living the life in their new homes. Can't wait to find out who was paired up with who.
Awww, what sweet babies. I'll miss them, too. They are so lucky to have someone like you to take them into your home and let them have a true kittenhood with good food, a warm place to sleep and a loving cat who will show them the ropes of being a cat! You're my Thanksgiving!
Poor widdle Charlene, with no babies to lick...for about a week. Then again, maybe she and Drewey will have some nice silent 'adult cat' nap time, because more sweet little fuzzballs are surely on their way.
Another good job, Ms. Butterbean. I'm sure the Drapers will go into their forever homes with confidence, tails held high, because you have taught them how to be the best kitties ever.
Love your new motto, Drewey, I'll try my best to adhere to it.
I've loved watching the Drapers grow up, particularly little Luella, who reminds me so much of my own tortie. Lovely photos of what appears to be a perfect last day with the Bean. It must be difficult for you to say goodbye, but rewarding to know what lovely and healthy kitties you are handing off to their new mommies and daddies! xo
How wonderful the Drapers will be home for the holidays!!! Such sweet kittens! And big YAYS for all the big kitties who are also finding their forever homes now!!!!
(I am betting the Drapers paired off - girls together and boys together)
New IBKC cards featuring The Fortunato Five and The Darlings are now available! There are still a few Ashby, Lovejoy, Davenport, Pettibone, Pickett and Charlene Butterbean sets left too! (very limited quantities of some) Click here if you would like to check them out.

who's following the kitties?
Hear the Purrrrs of an actual itty bitty kitty
Here's a little sound sample of IBKC graduate, Alvie Pettibone's purr.
Who are these kitties? The Itty Bitty Kitties are foster kittens that come to us from the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society. We care for the babes until they are old enough to be adopted, then we find them loving homes.
What is the IBKC blog all about? The IBKC blog follows the daily lives of our foster kittens and Charlene Butterbean, our resident cat. Occasionally we feature other kittens being fostered by our friends.
How do I go about adopting one of these kitties? First send us an email if you're interested. When the kittens are around 6 weeks old, we set appointments for a "meet and greet". If all goes well at your meeting, and the kittens approve, you may adopt. Because they are Humane Society kittens, we must follow their rules. There is an application process and an adoption fee. All kittens must be spayed or neutered before leaving our nest. Because these kittens receive copious amounts of love while they are in our care, we only let them go to people that promise they'll do the same. Seriously,, if you're looking for a kitty just because you have a large mouse population in your home, please look elsewhere.
We don't live in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Can we adopt one of your kittens?
I'm sorry, but we prefer to keep it local. I'm sure there are lots of lovely kittens at your local shelter.
We don't want to adopt, but can we just come visit the kitties? I'm sorry, but we don't grant requests for visits . We just can't.
Are these kittens the cutest kittens in the world? Of course they are.
How big are these itty bitty kitties?
I know it's hard to get a sense of the size of the kitties from the pictures. Generally, when people meet the IBKs, they are surprised at how small they are.
What kind of camera do you use to take the kitty pics? I use a Nikon D-40.
How many cats does it take to be classified a "crazy cat lady"? I think it's thirteen, but it varies from state to state.
How does one go about fostering? Contact your local animal shelter. Many have foster programs and are often in need of foster families for kittens and big cats too. It works for us because I work from home and can take breaks during the day to care for the kittens. It's very rewarding. I always feel (and my foster friends will agree) that you get more than you give.
If you don't have the time in your schedule or space in your home to foster, there are many other ways to help. Shelters are always looking for volunteers and donations.
Who cares for the kittens? The kitties are cared for by the human members of the IBKC, Laurie and Craig. Sue is a foster mama too, and her kittens are featured on here as well. Sarah is our medical advisor. It takes a village to raise a litter.
Is Charlene Butterbean the IBKs mama? Nope. She's never been a mother, although mothering comes naturally to her. She loves all kitty babies the second she meets them. She helps keep them groomed and plays with them too.
What kind of cat is Charlene Butterbean? We don't know for sure, but she looks a lot like a birman.
Does Charlene have a fan club? No, but she has her own email address. Click here to send her a note. You can also follow her on Twitter, or be her Facebook friend.
Is it just me... or has anyone else noticed Charlene has put on a little extra weight? No, it's not your imagination. We can't keep her out of the kitten food. We're trying to exercise her more.
Do you have any other cats? Yep. There's also Drewey (AKA Drewster, Rooster, Little Drewey Junebug, Drewski, Roost). I rarely write about her because she never mingles with the kittens. She's a little old lady cat who spends most of her time curled up in a ball, under the bed upstairs.
Will you ever adopt one of your foster kittens? Although it's very tempting at times, (especially those dark, fluffy, tabby boys... ) we don't plan to adopt any of our fosters any time soon. We've got a two cat max in our house.
Is it hard to say goodbye to the kitties? Yes, it is. But then we say hello to new kitties and it's all better again.

I know which pairs went together, only because I wanted one set and they had already been claimed. :( I won't spoil the surprise.
Goodbye little Draper kitties.. good luck in your furever homes!
May I just say it?
I think the Bean is absolutely the best four legged foster mother in the entire Universe and beyond.
Luckily little Drapers! They didn't realize they would land in kitten heaven and then go on to a wonderful forever home. Does a person good to see it.
I can't wait to find out who went with whom! Lucky people who provide furever homes to the Drapers :D

Charlene is the bestest auntiecat of all.
Oh, and if I was pairing them up, I'd've put the boys together and the girls together. Just because I can't resist matched sets like Gordon and Perry.
Awww..bitter sweet moments for you and Charlene :S
Charlene is the bestest aunt a kitten could ever have. :)

Bye bye kitties!
