Very, Very, Very Good Mews

DSC_0709

I have something really AMAZING to share with you.

I just got a very nice email form Marguerite, the director of development over at the Humane Society. She said that the cats will be the priority when it comes time to distribute the funds raised at this year's Dog-A-Thon.

The feral trap/neuter/release and low-cost spay/neuter for “neighborhood strays” programs will benefit from this. The money will also buy new cat cages for the HS lobby and help fund the re-design of the cat areas to help minimize disease and make the cats more comfortable.

Now here's the really fabulous part...

Every single penny of the Itty Bitty Kitty Community pledges will go directly towards the cats. Specifically, the cat adoption program AND the build out of two more rooms for the cats. They need over ten thousand dollars to complete the build-out project, and if we are able to raise ten thousand (we're so close already), the Itty Bitty Kitty Community (that means you fine folks!) will officially be "sponsoring" a room and you all will be honored with a plaque!

These two rooms will be used to 'quarantine' incoming cats, so they'll have lots more room to hold cats, evaluate their health, treat them and find them homes. More room for cats, means more lives saved.

Isn't that just incredible????

You folks are so wonderful. Together, you're so powerful. You all came together and supported this cause and these kittens, and now look what you're doing. YOU are making a difference. YOU are funding a major project at the Humane Society. YOU are saving lives.

We are so deeply touched by your generosity and support. From the bottom of all of our hearts, we thank you for caring so much.

I put in my two pennies (so to speak) as I would like to see IBKC wing become reality. I wish I could do more but alas it is what it is.

All y'all members of the Itty Bitty Kitty Community are so incredible!

And the heart of this community is Miss Butterben's bathing service and her human staff!

  14. HOORAY!!!! This explains why Marguerite wandered into the Cattery earlier this week and asked "What would you do if we had $10,000 for the Cattery?" Little did we know, it has come true!!!

On behalf of shelter cats and kittens everywhere, thank you ALL for your amazing generosity. Every penny will be put to good use and will directly benefit the kitties.

And I'm with you, Sue, can't stop these tears of joy. Thanks!!

  15. I realize that IBKC isn't a democracy, but I vote for naming the wing after Charlene Butterbean. Anyone else with me?

  16. My starving-grad-student budget didn't allow me to contribute much, but every little bit counts! Great initiative!

  19. OMG!!!! 10 squillion raised by night fall! This community is truly amazing!

I second naming the wing after the fabulous Charlene Butterbean. But I also think Laurie should be acknowledged for her incredible work as well.

  20. If you haven't contacted local news media at this point in time, I'd seriously suggest doing so. This is a great feel good story. I'd love to see IBKC pull in 20 squillion! :)

    Awesome work!

  22. That is so amazing. I made a donation earlier today when we were still in the 8,000 range. We're already above and beyond the 10 squillion mark!

It is so empowering to be an outsider looking in on this community (I have been visiting for quite awhile, but never posted anything) and even moreso to be a part of it. Even if those kitties aren't anywhere near me, I am so glad I could contribute a building block to their futures.

  25. WOW! That is so wonderful! I wish we could do something like that here, the cattery at our shelter is becoming dangerously worn out, but at least we still do the best we can for all the kitties (they even got their own bed with electric blanket donated recently! It is wonderful with the cold weather coming in and their heat lamp dead!)
