  1. Wow, I left for vacation and I return to my new boyfriend! I think I'm in love with Little Davy! Thanks, Laurie, for the great homecoming!

I don't have exact names or numbers but I'm told that while I was away we had an incredible number of adoptions in the Cattery. On Saturday alone, 18 (yes, eighteen!) cats and kittens found their new forever homes! That's 18 YAYs!

Laurie, it was wonderful to see you on Monday, and a pleasure to meet your new brood. You're helping these once-feral babes become fun & furry friends. Thanks for seeing their potential!

  2. PS ~ you know what they say about hindsight ~ I spent the last week leaf peeping in New England ~ I bet I could have smuggled these babes in my suitcase and brought them to our fellow IBKC fans back east (highest bidder, anyone?) :)

  3. Shana - You might have to fight me for him... ;)

He and his family are just the cutest aren't they..?

  4. I love how his little whiskers turn down to frame his sweet little mouth. So sweet. :o)

  5. You've fosters a lot of kitties, what's the best way of keeping them off the counter? My little Pepi was playing chase and jumped up on the counter where my cutting board was. On the board was a plastic pitcher with some water. Well she jumped off the cutting board and Mr.Newton reminds us "for every action is an equal and opposite reaction". So Pepi pushed the cutting board with the pitcher off the counter. There was no damaged except for a few cups of water on the floor, but in the future if she could stay off the counter, it would be better for everyone.

  6. Oh Jason, you crack me up! I love that you think you can keep kitties off the counters. I just surround myself with people who are only slightly horrified by the way we live. Actually, because I have a huge amount of counter space (don't hate me), and I have two dogs who would eat all the kitties food if they were fed on the floor (where they belong?), I have designated a corner of the least useful counter space as the kitty dining room and they pretty much stick to that..... sort of.
Davey has the dearest #11 between his eyes!

  7. Double-sided sticky tape was the only thing that worked on keeping my two off the counter-tops. And I had to keep refreshing it since they would actually check to see if it had gotten grungy and therefor non-sticky.

So, I just gave up and now leave nothing breakable/edible/play-able on the counters.

As for Davy, I just love that dramatic eye makeup! The white lines, the dark circles, and those adorable round eyes!

  8. Jason - Although I've never tried it, I'm told that putting something on a surface such as double-sided tape or aluminum foil will discourage the kitties. After a few landings they'll decide it's pretty unpleasant and find somewhere else to land.

  9. I just want to pick him up and begin an orgy of kitten cuddling!

Davy is in the foreground of the picture. His eyes look incredibly round and huge, as though he can't believe what he's hearing. His whiskers have a very elegant curve, with some of them at least encompassing 140 degrees. If they grow any longer and curvier, they'll meet to form a circle!

Behind him, we can just see another of his Livermore co-conspirators, possibly Trudy, judging from the mittened paw that's holding onto him.

  10. What a sweet little pudding-pop Davy is! He has to be the cutest kitten in the world, (along with his siblings, of course!)

After a hard day at work it is such a pleasure to come home and enjoy the kitties. I love them all!!!

  11. I also foster kittens for my local shelter but I would not want to let them mingle with my own cats since they often have little 'kitten colds' and I would worry about anything infectious being passed between them. Do you ever worry about Charlene's health as she meets all these young friends? I mean, it's adorable and she seems to love them, but hoe to you prevent colds from spreading?

  12. Mom is making love eyes at Davey!

  13. jason,, our foster kitties are too small to jump on the counters (thankfully,,,) so i'm sorry i don't have any advice. i've heard the double stick tape method works, but have never tried it myself.

anon, charlene doesn't meet the kittens when they first come to us. they have their own room and we wait the recommended period of time and make sure they aren't showing any symptoms before she mingles with the kittens. we keep her fully vaccinated too.

  14. Where's Trudy been?

  15. Davy is so precious, I just love the white around his mouth and in the corners of his eyes. He has one of the sweetest expressions on a cat I've seen.

  16. LIPS! Those little Davey-lips, I just want to put the teensiest wee little smooch on them. How CAN each baby be cuter then the one before (even if the one before IS the one we're seeing now?) I wonder what passionate kitty adorers who don't KNOW about IBKC do for their tranquility...Hmmmm

  17. Lil Lips, not to mention the Curviest of Lil Whiskers... Oh Davey, you are one heartbreaker boy!

  18. Laurie, did you name him after your dad? Awwwww. . .

  19. Seems like Davy is the most daring.

Along with the most handsome young man.

Is Trudy just a retiring young lady?

  20. OMG! *faints*

He is one of the cutest kittens I have ever seen! His expression is beyond adorable... I am in love!

  21. Whilst everyone is raving on about keeping-cats-off-counters (what a nonsense) I'll just carry little Davy over to the corner for a long, long snorgling session.

That's it Davy sweetie, you come with me...
