A Quiet Day

DSC_0918

It's kind of a quiet day around here. Four out of five Davenports are off getting their itty bitty bits removed. As much as Charlene enjoys having the babes around, I think she does appreciate the quiet times too. She's been lazing about the house. Now and then she takes a break from her nap to romp with Orson, the lucky kitty who didn't have to go to the vet today. His turn is coming soon. He's on Tuesday's surgery list.

I'll check in later to let you all know how things went.

  1. And then, on Wednesday you're going to pack Orson up and send him to me, right? Either that, or Charlene will keep him for herself and Craig will never notice that he's there because he's so tiny and precious (who knew there could be a tiny precious THUG?)

  2. Does she have to spend hours in the mirror arranging the whiskers, the eyebrows...or does she just LOOK like that? (We were discussing taking our Foundling in to have his itty bits removed - if, of course, he moves in; the DH whispered urgently, saying "Don't say that around HIM! Say 'his enormous manly parts', that what he thinks he has") Alls I can say is, must be a boy thing....

  3. Wow, I just noticed Charlene's flyaway toe-hair. She's got fuzzy paws! I vote on her days off, that Miss Butterbean goes an gets a pedi. Maybe Orson can go with for a nice sunbeam massage.

  4. I need, I say need, to play with that little tuft of fur sticking out of Miss B's front left paw.

Oh - Miss Charlene Butterbean is magnificent. I don't think I will ever tire of seeing her beauty. And, yes - that little toe-tuft needs some twiddling!

  8. Dear Ms Butterbean: looks very relaxed now - enjoy the peace and quiet while you can, sweetie - the little ones will be back soon and need your motherly nursing care as they recover from the anesthesia tonight!
Orson must be perplexed - wondering where his sibs are!

  9. My first day back from vacation and what do I see gracing the IBKC page, Miss Butterbean!

  11. We read on another blog about fostered kittens having behavioral problems because of being separated from their mothers at an early age. Obviously you do a wonderful job of raising fosters, but we think there is something else going on here as well. It is Charlene who teaches them to be cats. You two are a wonderful team!

  12. I do love that sweet Charlene Butterbean!

Yay for kitties without itty bitty bits! I'll be at the shelter on Tuesday, I'll take great care of Orson, I promise.

  13. Charlene Butterbean is sitting cat-loaf style, with her front paws sticking out and what looks like almost half an inch of toe fur emerging from one paw.

The photo is against a dark background that shows off her immensely long whiskers very well.

She's looking self-possessed but still quite alert, knowing that the itties will be back and need some comforting and some Butterbeaning (being held down and groomed) any time soon.

Chanter, do you follow the IBKC alumni blogs like Phyllis and the Aliens or Agnes and Henry? Let us know if you need describers!

  14. When will the itty bitty kitties go to their new homes now that their itty bitty bits have been removed?

Poor Orson will have to adjust to being with Butterbean until he finds his home.

  15. i still think that Ms Butterbean NEEDS Orson to stay with her.
Orson will grow up to be such a beautiful cat, he may even rival Ms Beans beauty.
what awesome pic possibilities there would be!
(please do not trim kittie toe hair, it is lovely)

  18. LOL, dale-harriet!! EMPs, indeed!

Charlene, dear, you are just stunning! I wish I looked as good as my feline overlord and ladies do in the morning (or afternoon or evening, for that matter!). I've often wondered why the dear Lord granted them the ability to look gorgeous at all times and I've got to work so hard for just passable! ;-)

Sending a quick one up for safe'n'easy IBP removals today and Tuesday!

  21. As one who has met and petted the Divine Miss Butterbean in person, I can attest that is is even more stunning than these beautiful pictures convey. She is so loving and gentle and friendly. I'll bet being with her is like Itty Bitty Kitty Universitty. Just look how well all her charges have turned out!!

    HERO!

  24. I have to say she is an amazing cat! she adapts so well to the comings and goings of these kittens. Its almost as if she realizes she's the foster mom and its her job to care for them until they find their forever homes. Give her an extra treat from me. And a hug.
