It's So Unfair

DSC_4660.JPG

I was looking at the number of posts I do on each kitten, and I think Mr Cornelius isn't getting his fair share of exposure. It's only because he's such a little devil to photograph. First of all, he's wiggly. When I press the shutter release, it's his cue to dart. Secondly, his shiny velvet coat just doesn't photograph well. Every once in a while the light conditions are perfect, and I can capture him. Most of the time, he's just a blue-black blur.

Sit still please Cornelius. These folks need to see the beauty that you are.

  1. Cornelius is so very handsome & regal.
When I was kitten pickin' awhile back, I oohed and ahhed over the orange tabby, then the buff siamese who was so lovely but a little shy. The woman working at the shelter, said 'Nobody every picks the black cats, they're always the last to go'. So I took another look at the funny little black kitten and he's been my fuzzy shadow ever since.

  2. He's a beauty! His eyes are so gorgeous.
And I'm sad to hear that about black kitties. *says a little prayer for all the black kitties of the world* Ok now you've just planted a seed in my mind....someday I'll take home a black kitty of my own.

  3. Aw what a sweetie :) He looks very very close to what my baby Jack may have looked like as a wee baby(we adopted our little black beastie about 4 months ago).

Lucky for us, we never had to worry about picking our kitty.. he came up to us the second we came to the shelter and told us to not even bother looking at the others :)

  4. Dearie - I have ALWAYS had little black kitties - now is no exception, my Evangeline is as glossy as a seal! Please don't tell the others but I've always liked Cornelius best (shshshshs). Give him an EXTRA smurgle for me, in honor of his predecessors Ra, Othello and his cousin Evangeline. (I now have a brown tabby too, the Very Naughty Paschkudnik, name of Lilliane)......

  6. Yay! More Cornelius!

I have a big black kitteh who looks very much like your little guy. Same mouse ears and big eyes. And same problem with taking a picture of his luscious black fur.

  7. My experience at the shelter has taught me that black and tuxedo kitties are indeed the last to go, followed by brown tabbies. Who can make sense of that? Please adopt accordingly.

  8. What a gorgeous kitty he is! Sweet little Cornelius.

My partner and I are the proud owners of 3 black kittens and their (formerly stray) mama, and we couldn't be happier. Throughout my many long years, I and my family have always had black cats for pets. I find that they tend to have the sweetest personalities of all. It's almost as though they're trying to make up for the unfair rep they've suffered all these years.

All those folks who overlook the black kitties don't know what they're missing. They're the best!

  9. I did not get to pick my current feline masters, they picked me. I couldn't be happier that they did.One is white with grey and black and the other a brown tabby. I am always visibly furry. Their former brother, Binks, however, was black as soot and his cat hair never showed up on my clothes, bedding or furniture. Now, I keep a lint roller by the bed, in the living room, in the laundry room and by the front door. Black cats are definitely better for fabric surfaces. smooches, cornelius.

  10. Dearest Cornelius,

Never fear my good little man - There are folks just like us out there. Folks who love love love little black kitties. You WILL find a forever home with someone who will love you as much as we love (read "adore") our little black Pixie Whisper. In the meantime, I'm sending a virtual kiss and snuggle your way, you beautiful little thing.

  11. I have a little black kitty as well. Her name is Isis and when she closes her eyes from the flash of the camera, she photographs like a black blob. Gorgeous in person, though. Black kitties just don't get their due.

  12. When you hold that boy and look into his sweet, gorgeous face you realize what beauty is. He's far more precious than a camera can convey. Inside and out.
