Could This be Goodbye?

People always ask us how we can let go of the kitties we foster. I used to say that I never let myself love them like they are ours to keep. I'm not sure that's so true anymore. This batch has really gotten under my skin. I think I love them as much as our own kitties. The only difference is that I just haven't loved them as long.

I try to capture who these kitties are in my photos and describe it in the text, but I always feel like I can't ever fully show you the truly fabulous creatures that they have become. There are so many amazing kitten moments that we witness that go undocumented. It's all small stuff, like funny leaps they make or looks they give. Or their purrs and squeaks, and all of the little ways they show their affection to us, each other, and Charlene. These moments are so precious and tender and they define who these kitties are. I guess what I am trying to say is believe it or not, these guys are even cuter in person.

My goal with this blog is to introduce you to these wonderful kittens and hope you too fall in love with them. I would love it if one of you fine folks reading this ( and living in our area) would adopt these babies. That way I would know they would kind of be staying in the family. I know all of you would keep in touch, send pictures and give full kitty reports from time to time. So if you've been toying with the idea at all,, now would be a very good time to speak up.

We're off to Petsmart it just a couple of hours. I am hoping, hoping, hoping that the perfect parents for Maddie and Cornelius will find their way there today. They only way I can stand to say goodbye to these two is if I am convinced they will be going to a home where they will be completely adored. I will settle for nothing short of that.

There's no guarantee Cornelius and Maddie will be adopted today, but I am trying to prepare myself for it just in case. It's not going to be easy to say goodbye. There will be tears, and quite possibly heavy sobbing in the Petsmart parking lot.

Everybody, please keep your fingers crossed for Maddie and Cornelius.

  1. I'll be sobbing with you, I just love to see the pics, but it will also be happy thoughts that they will go to a good home!

    Purry hugs, Robin

  2. All good thoughts that they will find homes where they will be as loved as much as you (and their internet fans) love them! You're very brave.

  3. I'm crossing my fingers for Maddie and Cornelius in the hopes that they will find a loving home. I'm sure that they will always remember the love and kindness you have shown them. *hug*

  4. thank you for your good work.

    your website makes me smile.

  5. I love this website. My daughter, who lives halfway across the country, and I sit and talk on the phone while viewing all the lovely kitties. We both love all the pics. They are so adorable!!!

  6. With best love for the best homes for all the bitty kitties... and BTW This. Is. A. Great. Blog.

  7. May the angels bless you for all the wonderful work you do and the way in which you give your hearts to the kitties. Just think of all the kitten lives you have already saved and all the humans whose lives will be better because of your efforts.

My heart is with you and each kitty. I pray they find the PURRFECT forever parents. And I'll shed a tear or two with you when they do.

The hubby and I are considering becoming fosters in the Spring. We want our youngest kittybaby to be a year old before we start. We much admire your work. We hope we can follow in your footsteps (including the awesome idea of a blog.) I know that my heart will break each time they get adopted but at least I will know somehow we made at least a little piece of the world better for others. Know that you have already done that for soooo many of us.

  8. Yes, what they said - also, we all love them too, and there are a lot of people who will be waiting eagerly to hear about these darlings, and you can count on a tear or two being shed in many other places than YOUR Petsmart Parking Lot. But think of the excitement and delight the new Kitmom and Kitdad will have bringing home their babies! (I bet I'm not the only one hoping they get to stay together.) Please please PLEASE make those cards or do a book, so we can continue to share the pictures?

  9. I've been coming to this blog since Over the past few weeks, I have grown as enamored with the kitties as everyone else. This last entry did bring a tear to my eye, only because I know how hard it would be for me... I'm sucha softie! :) But I really wish nothing but the best for you and for these most adorable kitties. Please keep us posted.

  10. Hoping and praying for happy homes for these furbabies....please let us know what happened as soon as you can!
