Usually, they come into the shelter as orphans because they were found that way, or because mama's human wants mama but not the babies. Everyone who fosters has the...Technically, any age. Everyone who fosters has their area of expertise and preferences. Some like the neonate bottle feeders, some like mamas with babies, some like under-socialized kittens. We prefer ours around 3 weeks or so when their transitioning from bottle to solids. Anything younger than that requires getting up TOO many times in the middle of the night for feedings, and I'm getting too old for that!
