I just wanted to than you all for your many kind words and well wishes. We appreciate you so much.

I don't have anything to report yet today, but as soon as I'll do, I'll post again.

Thanks for being here,

  3. Hello Laurie -

I've been reading this blog for some time now, and recently adopted my cat, Byrd, from the Animal Humane Society in Minneapolis in November. I was really inspired by all you do for these little ones, and knew I needed to bring a little fuzzy to my home, too. He's a 9 mo., beautiful seal point boy who was very snuggly and calm. About 6 days after I adopted him, he began vomiting bile, becoming less interested in food, and sleeping so often. When I took him to the vet, his temp was high, his white blood cell count was very low, and they gave me a rough prognosis. Many fluids, force-feedings, sub-cutaneous and oral antibiotics, naps on my chest (so I could tell if he stopped breathing), calls to the vet, and prayers from friends and family members, and he slowly emerged from his mystery sickness. Now he gallops about the house with joy, pestering his roommate, Hugo (the resident tabby)and purring loudly whenever meeting a new human.

I hope that with the love and care you provide your boys, as well as positive thoughts from others, the Finch brothers will emerge happy, healthy, and spunky - just like Mr. Byrd from Minneapolis. Best to you.

  5. Poor babies! Hopefully they'll soon be back and gaining strength and weight as soon as possible!

My Miss Flora has been indisposed the last week; in her case something possibly more serious. At 15, she's the light of my heart and I do worry a bit. But she sends purrs to add to those already sent.

  9. This is so sad and thank you so much for keeping us posted. I think sometimes it is easy to forget how much work it takes to keep the little ones happy and healthy. You do such good work and are really making a difference in these little guys' lives. They are lucky to have you in their corner. I just wish all cats had such good caretakers. Sending you my best thoughts and am going home to give my cat army a good scritch tonight.

  14. Dear Laurie -
I am just catching up with the news. My thoughts and prayers are going to the Finch boys, that they get strong and get past this.
They are in good hands, as they have been all along with you and your family.
Thank you for creating such a loving community here at IBKC. We are all holding you and the kittens in our hearts.

  15. We took in two kittens when they were only a week old, and had many late nights like you must be having, of syringe-feeding, and cleaning up after little ones. The vet said about 50% of stray kittens that young die before they reach 6 months old. Helo and Athena (our kitts)are 6 months old now and doing great! We are all thinking positive thoughts here in Michigan for your Finch bros.

  18. you take such amazing care of these babies that I am confident they will be just fine. And your vet is wonderful, too, I remember how great your vet was through the whole Jerry Lee heartbreak. I am confident that they will be roly-poly again in NO TIME! at least I certainly hope so! they are adorable little boys.
