Did you know I was a shelter kitty? When I was just a couple of days old, I was dropped off at The Humane Society. It was a little scary at first, but after a spell, I figured out that everyone was there to help me, and then I felt just fine.
From there, I moved into a foster home and was raised by my foster moms, Kim and Sarah. As soon as I was old enough, I got adopted by Mom and Dad.
Because I've been through "the system", I'm working hard to raise money for all the cats and kittens at The Humane Society. I want to do what I can to give them a better start on their journey towards their forever families. The money we raise will help make a safer, healthier, and more comfortable environment for all the shelter cats and kittens.
I've made some very special friends because of the Humane Society:
Pierre, Penny, Cassius, Vinny, Rex, Reva, Mitzy, Wendell, Maddie, Cornelius, Lottie, Willamena, Bernadette, Porter, Clementine, Auggie, Fergus, LeRoy, Beulah Mae, Twyla, Lovell, Ruth Anne, Jerry Lee, Nadine, Carmine, Agnes, Renatta, Rosalie, Virgil, Alvie, Cecily, Chet, Orson, Edward, Inez, Albert, Davy, Trudy, Lyle, Miranda, Georgette, Hester Sue, Enid, Norman, Clovis, Rupert, Milton, Bunny, Tressa, Neville, Harlan, Nelson, Selma, Francine, Hubie, Lucinda, Rhoda, and The Fortunato Five (who I haven't officially met, but will be meeting soon), and all of you. For this, I am so grateful.
I'm going to make a little donation myself, in honor of all my special friends (that means you), in appreciation of the Humane Society who gave me my start in life, and for all those cats and kittens waiting to meet their forever families.
Our little fundraiser is almost done, so if you were thinking about making a donation but haven't done so yet, I encourage you to do so today.
Thank you once again for all the support and the MANY squillions. We are feeling the love over at the IBKC!
Hugs, biscuits, and buddy bumps all around,, Charlene Butterbean

Oh, Butterbean, you brought tears to my eyes! Just by taking just loving care of all those many itty bitty kitties in your life, you've made wonderful, lasting donations. All three of my "babies" were fostered and had Butterbeans of their own in their early days so when I brought them home the transition was so much easier.
If ever there was a perfect spokescat for shelter success stories, it's The Great Butterbean.
Charlene, I anxiously await the photographs of your indoctrinating the Fortunatos to the mysterious ways of the Bean.
Oh Bean. You are a fabulosa ambassador for the oh-so-worthy cause. Sending buddy bumps and many blessings to you and yours.
Sigh.
Ms. Butterbean. You are loved the world over.
Miss Butterbean,
You have been an incredible example to all those kittens and to use lowly humans.
You deserve many buddy bumps, hours of biscuits and ear skritches galore!
I also love your tweets!
17 SQUILLION!!!!!!!!
(I'm proctoring an exam as a TA right now.... so I gotta yell virtually)
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope no one turns around to look at me, because I'm grinning ear to ear. Don't want them to think I'm enjoying their stress or something...
But who is the mysterious (and very Generous) Cynthia M. Suprenant ???
Awen, you said it all.
Butterbean, you are awesome... and Cynthia Suprenant - OMG! I've lost track of the total but you're building up major karma points :)
I heart you, Charlene B.
Not really related to the subject, but your cat is gorgeous!! (I don't even like that variety, but she's quite stunning.)
Thanks everybody --- I'm glad to be able to help. I really love grassroots efforts to do good things, and I'm a sucker for kittens and Golden Retrievers. And Charlene, with whom I am completely smitten. All good things to everyone involved with this project, particularly Laurie for her creativity, humor, photographic skills and giving heart. And did I mention Charlene? :) She is extraordinarily beautiful and so nurturing to the itty bitties. And she's so, well, abundant! :) I like kitties with a little meat on their bones.
I'm tearing up reading your posting as well. The way you take care of all the babies who come into your home is just beautiful to behold. I look forward to your meeting with the Fortunatos!
Are there photos of Butterbean as a little adopted baby?
Miss Charlene, you are such a beautiful beautiful beautiful cat, and a super great mammy cat for all the babies that come here...Lots of headbutts and snuggles snuggles...
Dear Ms. Butterbean, as a worker for the great state of washington, i get paid on the 25th. :)
