Kitity Hiatus
For the first time, in a very long time, we're officially kitten-free. Orson, Inez and Edward all left for their new homes bright and early today.
As sad as it was to say goodbye to the last of the Davenports, I have to say, it's nice to have a little quiet around here. We've had a steady a stream of kittens through this house, and as much as I love it, I need to take a week (or two) off, to avoid burn out.
During my kitty hiatus, I'm going to take a break from the blog as well.
When I return, there will be the last of The Davenport's departure stories, a fresh batch of kittens, perhaps a new set of Pettibone cards and a couple of other surprises as well.
Stay tuned folks, have a great holiday weekend,, we'll see you soon.

Departing Davenports
Last night we said so long to sweet little Cecily and dear, dear Chet. They found themselves a wonderful home with parents who are quite smitten with them already. They'll have a few siblings (both cats and dogs!). There's lots of love to go around, and I'm sure the Chet and Cecily will get a lion's share.
Their mama is quite a shutterbug, so I am hoping she'll provide us with lots of kitten pics.
It seems like they just got here, so it's hard to believe it's time to say goodbye. But it is. So goodbye. Be good kitties. We'll miss you!

A Good Day for Orson

The Davenport Report
Well four kittens went in, but only two had their surgery. Only Chet and Inez had the itty bitty bits removed. Edward and Cecily had a slight (very slight, actually) fever, so they could operate on them. Rats! I was so hoping we could send all the kitties off to their new homes this weekend! I know their new families are so disappointed too.
I suppose I can reveal now who's going with who. Chet and Cecily are one pair, the other, Edward and Inez.
Chet and Inez are doing just fine. You'd never guess that had surgery yesterday, it's just business as usual for the two.

A Quiet Day
It's kind of a quiet day around here. Four out of five Davenports are off getting their itty bitty bits removed. As much as Charlene enjoys having the babes around, I think she does appreciate the quiet times too. She's been lazing about the house. Now and then she takes a break from her nap to romp with Orson, the lucky kitty who didn't have to go to the vet today. His turn is coming soon. He's on Tuesday's surgery list.
I'll check in later to let you all know how things went.

Pucker Up
Harrison Beaumont wants to plant one on you with his kitten lips. OK, he doesn't really have lips, it just looks that way with his tiny little tongue folded up like that. He still wants to kiss you though, he's quite affectionate.
He's the third of the Beaumont children. I'm sorry, but he's spoken for already. I thought you might like to meet him anyway.

That Attitude Will Get You Nowhere, Orson Angelo Davenport
Did he just flip me off? It could possibly explain why Orson Angelo is the LAST of the Davenport Family to be spoken for.
Seriously. No one has claimed him. Go figure. And truth be told, this boy has no attitude. It fact he's just a lovely little doughy ball of kitten sweetness. He's pure kitten gold.
I think his lower lip is quivering,, it's OK Orson,, your parents are out there somewhere. We're just waiting for them to come by our way.
If you do by chance know of any fabulous kitten loving folks living in our neighborhood (Seattle/Tacoma) please direct them to the blog.
The other four Davenport are going in two pairs. Any guesses on who's going with who??
One last thing,,,
to follow up on Sue's kitty pic on the soda bottle... here's the article in our local paper. Congrats again, Sue!
My Apologies, Inez
I'm sorry, Inez. I know there haven't been too many pictures of you posted on the blog. Let me assure you, you are just as loved, and just as fabulous as all the kittens in the litter. It's just that kitties with shiny black coats are just more difficult to photograph than others. I'm sorry,, I'm trying.

Meet the Beaumonts!
There are a couple of kittens I'd like you to meet, Florie and Gunther Beaumont. These two dazzlers are Sue's foster kittens, and it's time to find them homes.
They're all ready to go now. They've had their shots, micro-chipping and their itty bitty bits have been removed. Their suitcases are packed and they're waiting by the door. If you have a wonderful home to offer in the Seattle/Tacoma area , and you're in need of kitten or two, please send an email, and I'll put you in contact with Sue.
Sue's prepared a little bio for each of the babes so you can get to know them a little better.
And now... I bring you... The Beaumonts...
Name: Florie
Describe yourself in 20 words or less: Soft and sleek, sweet and spunky. Chock full o’ delights.
What are your hobbies? Well, I’ve been watching the Olympics and have begun training for 2012. I run like the wind!! A shiny, black blur!
Favorite toy: If you have a small blue plaid fish handy, that would be excellent. The current one has seen better days.
Dislikes: Solitude. May I never experience it.
Dream-home: A human on the couch waiting for me to scramble up to their neck for a snooze. I’ll happily oblige. We can both snooze. Purr-purr-purr.
An interesting fact about me: You might think I’m a solid black kitty, but when the light hits just so, you’ll see I have the faintest little stripes and a smoky color under my chin. Really quite stunning!
Minor Imperfection: When I get sleepy, I sometimes develop an unnatural affinity for human fingers. I like to nibble – and purr. I’m learning to be distracted by a toy so keep one close by! It’s a kitten thang. I’m already growing out of it.
Why should you adopt me? From day one, my brother Beaumonts and I have been some of the sweetest, cuddliest kittens my foster mom has had the pleasure of knowing. You’ll wonder how you could be so lucky!
Name: Gunther
Describe yourself in 20 words or less: Classically handsome, an extremely loving, happy boy.
What are your hobbies? Kisses. Right on the lips.
Dislikes: The mere idea that you wouldn’t want to just scoop me up to snuggle your shoulder. I don’t get that. Makes no sense.
Dream-home: I’m not the independent sort. Another sweet kitty, please – big or small. And some couch time with you each evening. We can make out.
An interesting fact about me: After having my bits removed, I wouldn’t stop licking myself, so I was relegated to wearing one of those silly collars for a few days. Laurie said I looked like a sweet, furry astronaut! But it didn’t slow me down one bit. Blast off!!
Minor Imperfection: Can’t think of a single thing.
Why should you adopt me? I’m a happy-talker! I can purr and have a conversation all at the same time!
